Overview

Located on Orchard Street in the vibrant heart of New York's East Village, Gnocchi on 9th offers a focused, heartfelt celebration of one of Italy’s most beloved dishes: gnocchi. This cozy spot is perfect for gnocchi enthusiasts and casual diners alike who crave authentic, freshly made comfort food with a modern twist. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick takeout or a casual bite under the city’s evening lights, the experience strikes a perfect balance between quality and convenience.

The menu centers on gnocchi with a selection of distinct sauces and luxurious burrata toppings, including the standout Vodka Gnocchi and the indulgently rich Black Truffle Cacio e Pepe. The gnocchi itself is consistently tender and expertly cooked al dente, showcasing a delicate texture and rich flavor that garners praise from both locals and visitors.

What truly elevates the dining experience here is the ability to customize your dish. Guests can choose from various sauces, such as pomodoro, pesto, or the signature vodka sauce, then select burrata—regular or decadently truffled—which adds a creamy, savory depth. The opportunity to add optional toppings like chili flakes and parmigiano enhances each plate without complicating the straightforward menu.

Service at Gnocchi on 9th is noted for its warmth and attentiveness. From attentive recommendations to personalized care—highlighted by gluten-free accommodations and friendly interactions with staff—the customer experience is consistently welcoming. Patrons report prompt service and a relaxed yet lively atmosphere, with limited indoor seating motivating a takeout-friendly vibe complemented by a few tall outdoor tables.

Apart from gnocchi, the menu includes fresh options like a crisp Caesar salad and a sublime tiramisu sourced locally from Brooklyn, rounding out the meal with classic Italian touches. This attention to detail reflects a commitment to authentic flavors while maintaining an accessible price point.

Ideal for busy New Yorkers or tourists seeking a flavorful, quick Italian fix, Gnocchi on 9th shines as a hidden gem in a neighborhood known for culinary diversity. Its neighborhood charm, combined with thoughtful menu offerings and a focus on quality, delivers not just a meal but a memorable encounter with one of Italy’s simplest yet most satisfying dishes.

Came here for some lunch. Was served by Mark who was super friendly. Service was amazing and the food was ready very quickly. Had the cacio e pepe gnocchi and it was honestly the best gnocchi I’ve ever had!!! Super affordable, 100% would go again!!

Grabbed some for late night snack on a Saturday just before they closed, only one group ahead of us. Disclaimer: We are tourists so prob wouldn't know homemade vs factory. That being said, it was DELICIOUS. We ordered one with vodka sauce and burrata cheese, and a cacio e pepe with burrata.i wish the portion was a tad larger, but it was all served so fast. No seating indoors, but a few tall tables outside but it's mostly a takeout place. Would order again for sure

Absolutely spectacular customer service. Mark Anthony himself took amazing care of me. I’m gluten free and made sure I was well taken care of. Whilst we were waiting for the food to finish we couldn’t help to strike up a good conversation while we waited. When I’m in the east village during a night out I know where I’m going. That’s Gnocci on 9th on Orachard street.

Had an amazing first experience at Gnocchi on 9th, on Orchard Street. Me and my fiance decided to go to the newer location as we were in the area. Though we worried about the lines this location was a breeze ! Service from the owners was great, I felt very taken care of in helping decide on which of the three options (or six options) to choose from. It’s so cool, you get to choose your sauce for the Gnocchi, decide on the type of Burrata (regular or truffled) and offered “toppings” (included in price) such as red chili flakes, parm, oil etc The finished product is delish, the gnocchi was al dente and very flavorful. This location had a unique offering of a pesto sauce opposed to the first location they opened. We ended up choosing an Al vodka with the standard burrata and a pesto with the truffled burrata (under one of the owners recommendations) and the portions are solid vs the price. It really does fill you well, was so good I took a Pomodoro with truffled burrata home for another day. We also tried the Tiramisu that they get from a Brooklyn pastry shop (forget the name) that was stellar. Paired with a classic San pelligrino arincinata If you haven’t tried either location (I still need to try the OG one) I highly recommend. We got our pasta fix at an affordable price at a random time at night after our long work schedules… and quickly. Getting Gnocchi like this at a restaurant would have taken longer and cost us more.. Gnocchi on 9th is a gem
